Different institutions can raise money and donate directly to the project or purchase a projector and have it sent to Boulder Creek High School in Anthem, Arizona. Clubs can decide how they would like to raise funds or collect projectors for this project, but all projectors raised are sent to Boulder Creek so that a member of the BHBM committee at Anthem Rotary can collect the projector and proceed with the project.
All projectors that are collected are tested for proper functionality if used, and are ensured to contain all necessary components if new. All working projectors are consolidated and packaged carefully into large boxes. We ensure that each package contains a specific amount of projectors corresponding to the amount we want in that specific shipment. Excess projectors are safely stored and prepared for the next shipment.
After we reach the amount of projectors needed for the specific shipment, Anthem Rotary places all necessary labels on the package and utilizes DHL or an International logistics company partner to ship the package to Rotary Kumasi.
After reaching the Port of Tema near Accra, the projectors are delivered to Rotary Kumasi at their HQ and meeting place. Prior to Arrival, Rotary Kumasi works with the schools receiving projectors from the incoming shipment to formulate a thorough plan of where and how to integrate projectors into the schools. Once arrived, the specific plans are passed on to Rotary Kumasi's sponsored Interact Clubs. These Interact clubs pick up the projectors and their components, and deliver/install them inside the designated classrooms.
After projectors are integrated into classrooms, and instructors start utilizing them for education, schools are reached out to about their continued interest in the program All Things EQ. After reconfirming interest in the program, Rotary Anthem and Kumasi work with Danna Evans (CEO of All Things EQ) and All Things EQ in order to implement the emotional intelligence education into schools.
As Interact Service Projects, Rotary Kumasi sponsored Interact Clubs will be tasked to regularly follow up with school administrations to ensure that projectors are functioning as intended, and that projectors are being used for their intended educational purposes. They will also follow up about ATEQ participation and provide a report to Rotary Anthem, Rotary Kumasi, and All Things EQ. According to the report, if BHBM intervention is required, such as a broken projector, BHBM may step in to correct things.
It is very important that The Better Hearts, Better Minds Project invests in schools that display both a need and a desire. All 3 teams of BHBM designed this survey to administer to all potential participating Kumasi schools. Depicted are questions that assess the logistical viability of the school hosting projectors. The next section, "The Better Hearts Project" asks questions such as "Are there quality programs in place for your students to learn emotional and mental health intelligence?" These questions were designed to work with administrators to reflect on the state of mental health intelligence within their schools. Further questions assessed the ability for teachers to help students with mental health challenges, and further questions directly asked if the school would be interested in the program. The next section is titled "General Logistics Questions". This section gathers data on student population, staff population, and what versions of ATEQ the school may prefer. These surveys are administered by Rotary Kumasi's Rotaractors.
This survey is administered to schools that we have chosen to provide projectors from a given shipment. Here, we work with administrators to pinpoint an exact number of projectors necessary for implementation. We also give the administrators an option to consider about implementing projectors within the classroom of core classes. This rationales behind the inclusion of this choice are mainly potential unnecessary electric bill increases, project sustainability, and preference. This survey also questions the school about to receive projectors if they want to participate in All Things EQ. In the next page of this survey, administrators are asked specifically in what ways they would like to participate in All Things EQ. For instance, do they prefer 10-20 minute daily videos and discussions daily, or one long session weekly. The purpose of this survey is to get more specific details on the strategy for implementation to better prepare the school and Kumasi Interact teams for a smooth integration of the desired programs.
